Dear Roland,

On International Women’s day on the 8th of March I started thinking about the men in my life who have supported me and helped me grow. I want to thank you for being who you are, and working with such integrity in this therapeutic process. I was comfortable with you (which you may find hard to believe given a couple of our sessions!) from the first moment I met you in that cafe with Donna, and that comfort along with the respect I developed for you during those Hakomi workshops led me to consider working with you. Up to that point I had avoided male practitioners of all kinds, having wherever possible female doctors, dentists, therapists, etc. During university teaching I have always had some male students, colleagues, even people’s husbands, that triggered me in some way, making it tough to work with them or be natural in the same room with them. Needless to say, I had few boyfriends growing up or as a young adult. To find myself here at this point in my life with this kind of comfort in who I am just blows me away. And I am fairly certain that I would never have gotten here on my own.

I also know that if I am a Reiki practitioner and believer, it is because of you. You inspire me to be my best. To discover this gift in the second half of my life is just astounding, and it continues to deepen. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your teaching, your insight, your gentle presence, your humour and spark–

with love and gratitude,
