The Chakra Charting Method represents a breakthrough in energy healing tracking. The modality used was Brennan Healing Science, but the method can be adapted to any modality when chakra readings are used and recorded. Several case studies are presented and data from over 90 clients is provided, analyzed and commented on. Brennan Energy Healing Science is taught in a four-year program at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, a junior college in Florida, USA. This school is the only one in the world to offer a Bachelor of Science in Energy Healing. This healing science was developed by Dr. Barbara Brennan and described in her books The Healing Power of Hands and Healing with Light. The Chakra Charting Method may be useful for:

  • Inform the customer;
  • Document and visually track healing progress;
  • Visually indicate where limiting images and beliefs are causing unnecessary suffering, which can then be used to support recommendations for in-depth self-study or therapy;
  • Compile on a single page the results of all sessions with a client;
  • Document a research project;
  • Help to inform about traditional or other modalities and the healing modality used;
  • Track progress of any other modality when chakra readings are used and recorded.

Brennan Energy Healing Science

Brennan Energy Healing Science is an advanced energy healing technique created by Dr. Barbara Ann Brennan. She was employed by NASA as a physicist when she began a personal healing journey. This led her to publish her book The Power of Hands for Healing and to launch her healing school in 1982. The latter is now a Florida-based college recognized by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. It is the only school in the world to offer a program recognized as a Bachelor of Science in Energy Healing. In this method, universal energy is channeled and made available to the client through the laying on of hands on the energy centers and joints. Over the course of four years, the student undertakes personal transformation and therapy work to better understand themselves, clear their energy field and thus allow for a deeper connection with the client. The student develops their Higher Sense of Perception (HSP) and is able to perceive the energy field, which helps to “diagnose” what is happening with the client energetically. Over 50 techniques are learned to repair, restructure, charge and cleanse the energy field. The student learns to work on the aura dimension (energy field) and also on the deeper dimensions of intention and pure essence. The program teaches personal awakening skills and the dynamics of relational energetics, early childhood wounds and character defenses.

The Energy Field – The Dimensions of the Universal and Human Field

The Universal Energy Field (UEF) is composed of universal energy. This has been called life force energy, chi, ki, or prana. It has a divine consciousness and nourishes all living things, even so-called “dead” matter. This energy permeates the universe and connects everything. Brennan gives a very complete history of references to the UEF. (Brennan, Healing with the Light, pp. 16-18) The Human Energy Field (HEF) is the part of the UEF that intimately affects human life. It is the level where a template exists upon which the physical world rests. On this level, energy and consciousness cannot be separated. The energy field serves as a vehicle for psychosomatic reactions. Disease and illness first appear in the energy field before manifesting on the physical plane. Therefore, they can be treated through the energy field. The HEF or aura is composed of chakras and energy levels (often called etheric bodies).

Chakras

Chakra is a word that means “wheel” in Sanskrit. The chakras act as a funnel or antenna that captures the energy of the CEU and metabolizes it so that the body can use it. Each chakra nourishes the endocrine glands and certain organs; in addition, it governs a psychodynamic function. For example, the 5th chakra nourishes the vocal apparatus, the thyroid gland, the lungs and the bronchi. It also influences how we feel about our place in society, our ease of expressing our needs and our ease of receiving. There are 7 main chakras and many secondary chakras. The 7 chakras are roughly at the level of the endocrine glands. On the vertical plane, there is a chakra at the head (7th, crown chakra) and one at the perineum (1st, base chakra). There are five more on the horizontal plane, one on the front of the forehead (6th, or 3rd eye), at the throat (5th), at the heart (4th), at the solar plexus (2nd) and at the sacrum (1st). Each of the chakras on the horizontal plane has a front (A) and back (B) aspect.

Chakra Groups and Modifiers

In general, the front aspect of the chakras is associated with emotions, the back aspect with will, and the head aspect with reason. These groupings are called modifiers because, as a group, they influence or modify our relationship with our reality. The major or minor modifier represents the one that each individual uses the most or the least, when entering into a relationship with their reality. The chakras are grouped into modifiers according to the following list. The (A) signifies the front aspect and the (B) signifies the back aspect of the chakra. These chakras can be found on the evaluation chart illustrated later in this article. Reason

Emotion

  • Chakras 5A, 4A, 3A et 2A

Will power

Levels

The HEC has 7 levels. Each level is superimposed on the others. It radiates from the center and rests above the physical body and the other levels at a higher and higher vibration (not in layers like an onion). The complete aura radiates approximately one meter from the body, more or less, depending on the state of the person. The first three levels are related to the physical aspects (feelings, emotions towards oneself and the mind or rational thought). The fourth level is related to our relationships with others and is also the bridge between the physical and spiritual levels. Levels 5, 6 and 7 are related to the spiritual aspects (divine will, divine love and divine knowledge). In the same way that a magnetic field influences its environment, the HEC also affects its surroundings.

Brennan Science Healing Session

In a healing session, the practitioner interacts with the client who is present in person or remotely. The practitioner inquires about the client’s emotional and medical history as well as the immediate reason for the visit. An energy field reading is done and the work begins by working on the client’s energy field through the chakras, joints and the area where the illness or discomfort is located. This work is done on the physical and the energy field, but can also include the dimensions of intention and pure essence. The field is cleansed, charged, balanced and repaired as needed, usually spread over several sessions. The work unblocks and dissolves energy that has become stagnant or dense. These blockages, which first appear in the energy field, eventually manifest on the physical body or as discomfort in the client’s emotional or relational reality. After several sessions, the energy field stabilizes and more fully nourishes the client’s body and mind. This promotes healing from within on the physical, emotional, mental, psychological or spiritual levels. During the sessions, the dynamics of unconscious images, beliefs and habits that influence the state of health are brought to the client’s awareness. Once conscious, the process of transformation can begin to reduce or eliminate unnecessary suffering in the client’s life.

The graphic method for chakras

The Chakra Charting Method is a way to document and track healing progress by measuring the state of the chakras throughout sessions. These readings are tabulated and presented on a chart and graphs.

Basis of the method

The first step is to tabulate all the chakra readings taken before treatment at each session, using the pendulum notation developed by Dr. Barbara Brennan as illustrated in Table 10-2 in The Healing Power of Hands. By tabulating these readings, grouping them by Modifier, and highlighting the imbalanced chakras, the healing effect becomes very clear. A chakra is fully open when it rotates to the right (clockwise) in a circle. If it rotates in an ellipse, to the left (counterclockwise), or swings in a straight line, it is distorting the energy it receives. To indicate this result on a chart, each symbol must have a numerical value to indicate whether the chakra is open (feeding the energy field), closed (expelling energy from the energy field), or flat (squashing energy, holding it back, or not having much effect). The values assigned to each notation are listed in the following table. The meaning of each direction is described in detail in Table 10-2 of The Beneficial Power of the Hands. This meaning is explained here to the extent that it is important to the method.

NOTATION DIRECTION VALUE
C Right in the cercle 1
CER, CEL, CEV, CEH, CEAS Right, in an ellipse 0.5
V, H, R, L In a straight line 0
CCER, CCEL, CCEV, CCEH, CCEAS On the left, in an ellipse -0.5
CC Left, in a circle -1
S Fixe -2

These values are based on the following reasoning:

  • A chakra that turns to the right, in circles, takes energy and functions at full capacity (value 1);
  • A chakra that turns to the right, in an ellipse, takes energy, but distorts it (value 0.5);
  • A chakra that swings in a straight line (horizontal, vertical, right or left) takes very little energy, reduces it and retains it (value 0);
  • A chakra that turns left, in an ellipse, is unbalanced and sends energy out of the energy field (value -0.5);
  • A chakra that turns left, in circles, is unbalanced and sends energy out of the energy field (value -1);
  • It is very unhealthy for a chakra to be fixed (not moving at all) for a long period of time. On the other hand, it is possible that it is simply changing its direction. In this case, it is less serious. In any case, by giving it a value of -2, it will be highlighted on a graph.

These values are arbitrary in terms of the exact amount of energy that is being taken up by a chakra, but they do help to represent the effectiveness of the chakras and the entire system when graphed. One can see which chakras are above the line (taking energy), on the line (flat) or below the line (returning energy out of the system). Thus, a simple visual of the state of each chakra, the entire HEC system and the effect of the energy work can be graphed over time and calibrated over multiple healing sessions.

Chakra Assessment Chart

The Chakra Assessment Chart is a one-page summary of the physical and psychodynamic functions of the chakras as defined by Dr. Brennan. The chart is used in the first session to describe the energy system to the client and to indicate where their field is in balance and where it needs support. The chakras are grouped according to the modifiers in the colored boxes. The chakra reading rating is indicated next to the chakra. Chakras that are out of balance are shaded. chakraAssessment

Chakra Readings Chart

chakraReading1

Chakra readings (direction and diameter) before each session are compiled on the chart. Each horizontal line on the chart represents a healing session and the date is noted on the left. The far left calculates the interval in weeks between each session and since the first session. With each subsequent session, some of the chakras change direction. A few that were out of balance and spinning left or flat begin to take energy partially or completely. Others change in the opposite direction. Generally, over time, the total number of out of balance chakras (TNCB) decreases, the total number of open chakras (TNOC) increases, and the client’s system becomes more efficient at taking in and holding energy. Progress is defined by the decrease in NTCB or the increase in NTOC. NTCB alone does not tell the whole story. Taking into account the efficiency (given value) of the chakras, the net energy absorbed by the system can be estimated by totaling the values for all chakra readings for a session. This is called the Net Energy Input (NEI) and can be used as an indication of the health of the HEC. The maximum value of the NEI is 12 if all chakras are fully open and –12 if all chakras are fully closed. The far right of the chart indicates the NTCD and NEI of the system for each session. Overall, the chart gives an overview of the state of the HEC at the beginning of each session and the change over time. By coloring the imbalanced chakras and reading the chart vertically, the usual defenses and modifiers are evident. The chart also serves as a compilation of all sessions for the client. The chart opposite shows the case of a client who had been suffering from depression for the five years prior to the first session. During the sessions, the ENE increased rapidly from a value of 2 in the first session to a value of 10 in the 6th and remained stable thereafter. Shortly after the sessions began, the client decided to quit smoking and on his own (in agreement with his psychiatrist) he significantly reduced the medication prescribed to treat his depression. During the 8th session, he revealed that he felt something new inside him. He recognized that it was his normal, happy part knocking at the door to come out again.

This graph tracks unbalanced chakras and the NE of the CEH over time. As the NTCD decreases (descending line), the NE increases (ascending line).

Chakras Reason, Emotion and Will

These charts group the chakras into modifiers and track changes over time. The client’s condition is seen by noting the dips in the curves. To make the chart easier to interpret, the color used for each of the curves on the chart corresponds to the color associated with that chakra.

All Chakras

This graph tracks all the chakras. The client’s condition can be tracked on this graph. Difficult periods are easily identified by the concentrations of dips in the curves.

Modifiers

This graph tracks the progress of each modifier over time. There is a curve for each of the Reason, Emotion, and Will modifiers. The highest curve is the major modifier and the lowest is the minor modifier. Ideally, the modifiers should balance out over time, meaning that one’s approach to life is more balanced.

This client is a young adult with fibromyalgia. She came in for 30 sessions over a 43 week period. The ENE increased rapidly from an initial value of 6 to a value of 10 and then remained between 8 and 12 as she went through her process. She grew up in a dysfunctional family and had a very difficult relationship with her mother who did not live with the family. The situation became even more tense when the mother visited. The difficult times for the client are visible on the graphs by the clustered dips. The energy field became more stable towards the end of the sessions as indicated by the smaller variations on the right of the all chakra graph. Even the modifiers balanced out in the last sessions. The shaded areas of the chart clearly indicate that chakras 6B, 5A and 3B are habitually out of balance. Although the client felt better from session to session, there was a lot going on in her life and the dynamics that were keeping her chakras out of balance were very entrenched. When the chart was presented to her, she could see very clearly why therapy was recommended to bring awareness to, challenge, and begin to transform the core beliefs and images that were holding this configuration in place. She followed the recommendation and went to therapy.

This client had a mass of fiber on one of her ovaries that she could feel through her abdomen. By the ninth session, she could no longer feel it. The chart showed her that the 2nd chakra, which nourishes the reproductive system, had recovered since the first session. The chart was used to visually confirm the healing that was taking place in her energy field and body. The ENE increased from an initial value of 8 and stabilized between 9 and 12 until the thirteenth session. The dips in the charts between the thirteenth and sixteenth sessions indicate that there were emotional issues that were rising as she moved through her process. Chakras 5A, 4A, 2A, 5B, and 1 were usually out of balance. Chakras 1, 2A, and 5B became balanced over about seven sessions, but chakras 5A and 4A remained unbalanced, indicating that more in-depth work on core beliefs and images was needed. Since the client did not return, it was not possible to continue monitoring the healing progress.

This client came to study herself and to manifest a deep desire to create nourishing relationships. She had become aware of a repetitive pattern in her relationships with men: she would leave the relationship after a short time. She was also aware that her boundaries were weak. She wanted to understand and transform these dynamics and break the pattern so that she could finally create something different with her new partner. The ENE increased rapidly from an initial value of 0.5 to a value of 11, stabilizing for a while around 10 and then decreasing as she lived more deeply in her process. She made new discoveries about herself, about what she wanted and needed in a relationship with a man. As she became aware of her dynamics, she adjusted her boundaries and changed the ways she related to her partner. The relationship became very intense and she finally realized that it was not nourishing her needs. She experienced tumultuous changes in her emotions as she wrangled the decision to stay or leave the relationship. These changes are visible toward the right of the graph.

Effect of Energy Healing on the CEH – A Data Analysis

Of over 90 clients who have consulted in the past three years, 66 (72%) returned for at least four sessions, 48 (52%) for six sessions, 29 (32%) for eight sessions, and 23 (25%) for ten or more. Although this assessment is not the result of a controlled research study, as the interval between sessions and the total duration were not constant for all clients, it was interesting to analyze the data and make some observations about the results.

Imbalance in the CEU at the first session

Clients often wait until things are really bad before seeking help. It is therefore not surprising to see an abnormal number of chakras out of balance at the first session because of the snowball effect of diminishing well-being. Table 1 and the bar graph show the total number of chakras out of balance and fully open at the first session as a percentage of the total number of clients. Reason Emotion Will power

Almost half of the chakras were out of balance in some way. For 86% of clients the first chakra was out of balance (not grounded and low in energy) and for 63% of them the front aspect of the 5th chakra was out of balance (difficulty expressing, difficulty expressing needs and difficulty receiving). The data indicates that on average there was more energy in the Will chakras (57%) than in the Reason (55%) and Emotion (50%), suggesting that the modifier presented in the first session was Will and Reason second; Emotion being minor. This seems to be in keeping with our goal-oriented society that encourages people to stay in the mind and busy themselves with all sorts of things rather than being in touch with and expressing the emotions they are experiencing. This sample may not be representative of the population, but it may not be so far from the truth.

The effect of treatments on NTCD and ENE

Table 2 and bar graph present data on NTCD and ENE at the first visit and after the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th sessions as measured before the session at the 1st, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th sessions.

Average ENE 4.63 9.6 9.6 9.4 8.6

chakraGraph2

There are clients who, at the first session, had up to 10 unbalanced chakras and a net energy input as low as -5.5. A negative value for the ENE indicates that the system is sending more energy outward than it is retaining. On the other hand, the HEC reacts quickly and remains quite stable after three and even nine sessions (4th and 10th sessions), as demonstrated by the reduced number of unbalanced chakras (between two and three) as well as the relatively high value of the ENE (between 8.6 and 9.6). . The effect of treatments on the number of fully opened chakras and the net energy inflow Table 3 and the bar graph show the percentage increase in NTCO and ENE compared to values at the first visit after three, five, seven and nine sessions as measured before the session at the 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th session.

Table 3 – The effect of treatments on NTCO and ENE

Number of sessions 3 5 7 9
Average increase in the number of fully opened chakras 60% 56% 53% 33%
Average increase in the ENE 211% 201% 154% 123%

chakraGraph3

On average, there was a 60% increase in NTCO after three sessions. The average increase in NTCO remained above 50% through the ninth session. For 83% of clients, there was at least a 25% increase in the number of fully open chakras after three sessions. For 18% of clients, there was at least a 100% increase in the number of fully open chakras after three sessions. On average, the NE increased by 200% over the value at the first visit after three and five sessions, decreasing to 154% after seven sessions and 123% after nine sessions. A few clients who had multiple chakras out of balance saw a dramatic increase in energy, up to 20 times the initial NE value (see Case Study C). One might conclude from the above that it would be best to stop treatments after five sessions!! On the other hand, in the process of healing and the presence of more energy in the HEC, the client sees himself deepening and working on the more important issues. He makes new discoveries and takes the risk of changing the way he relates to others. The healing process brings changes in the HEC, which is observed by the variation of the NTCD and the ENE. This is what is noted after seven and nine sessions. This eventually becomes more balanced and the HEC becomes more stable as the client learns to integrate the new choices and the new awareness of the dynamics of his life. The vision of the future The preparation of charts using the Chakra Charting Method © represents a real breakthrough in monitoring the progress of the energy healing work and its effect on the HEC. The method is very useful for the client and for the practitioner and can serve as a bridge to inform about traditional, alternative and complementary modalities on the Brennan Energy Healing Science. The NTCD and ENE are not the only factors to consider in the healing process, but they do play an important role. Energy healing work helps to bring the energy field back into balance. However, even when the field is fairly balanced, healing is a moment-by-moment choice to align with one’s deepest desires, life purpose, and pure essence. To do this, we must become aware of, challenge, and transform the limiting images and beliefs that organize our present moment experience and cause unnecessary suffering in our lives. As the HEF holds more energy, the chakras can nourish and govern the psychodynamics in a more enriching way, giving the client more favorable conditions for healing and manifesting their deepest desires. Although some will argue that the pendulum is not a scientific instrument and is subject to the influence of the user, energy healing practitioners and dowsers have been using it for a very long time. The results are consistent once the person learns to use it properly and gains experience. The data collected over multiple sessions is reliable and indicative. The method can be adapted to any healing or therapeutic modality when pendulum readings are used and recorded. It is hoped that the advent of this method and the results presented here will encourage additional research into the effect of Brennan Energy Healing Science as a healing modality, using the method with recognized research protocols. The research results presented in this way will therefore support the theory of Brennan Energy Healing Science and represent an effective way to demonstrate the power of energy healing to a world that relies primarily on studies and statistics. As studies confirm positive results, the community will recognize the potential of Brennan Energy Healing Science to return clients to holistic wellness.
